Application for Certificate of Eligibility

This application is required for foreign nationals entering Japan from overseas who intend to engage in specific activities (such as employment or study). It serves to verify in advance that the intended activities meet the requirements for landing in Japan.

Application for Change of Status of Residence / Extension of Period of Stay

This application is for foreign nationals currently residing in Japan who wish to change their status of residence to engage in activities not permitted under their current status, or to extend their period of stay before it expires in order to continue residing in Japan.

Application for Permission to Acquire Status of Residence

This application is for foreign nationals who remain in Japan without undergoing entry procedures, such as those who lost Japanese nationality or those born in Japan, and who intend to stay in Japan for more than 60 days.

Application for Permission to Engage in Activities Outside the Status of Residence

Required for foreign nationals with a status of residence (such as student or worker) who wish to engage in income-generating activities outside the scope of their authorized status, such as part-time work.

Application for Certificate of Authorized Employment

This optional application allows foreign nationals to confirm in advance with the Immigration Services Agency whether their new job—such as when changing employers—falls within the scope of their current status of residence. While not mandatory, it is recommended when changing jobs.

Application for Permanent Residence

This application is submitted by foreign nationals who wish to change their current status of residence to “Permanent Resident.”

Various Applications Concerning the Residence Card

Includes notifications of changes to items listed on the residence card (excluding address), renewal of residence card validity period, reissuance due to loss, damage, or voluntary replacement, and requests for adding a kanji name notation.
