Immigration Services Agency Releases 17-Language Orientation Videos to Support Daily Life in Japan

25/11/28

Recently, news reports have increasingly highlighted cases of friction between foreign residents and local communities arising from differences in culture and lifestyle. While the phrase “When in Rome, do as the Romans do” is often quoted, in many cases Japan’s rules and social norms are not adequately communicated in the first place.

In this context, the Immigration Services Agency of Japan has released “Daily Life Orientation Videos” and informational leaflets to help foreign residents live smoothly in Japan.

These materials are available in 17 languages, including English, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Ukrainian. They provide guidance on immigration procedures, garbage disposal rules, evacuation procedures in the event of earthquakes, traffic rules, and other important aspects of daily life.

As administrative scriveners, we assist with visa (status of residence) applications. However, we believe that life in Japan after approval is equally important. It is unfortunate when misunderstandings due to lack of information lead to trouble or isolation within the community.

These videos and materials may be helpful in the following situations:

  • For foreign residents: to reduce anxiety about daily life in Japan and clarify unclear rules.

  • For employers and community members: as a practical resource when explaining Japanese rules that may be difficult to convey verbally.

Eternia Legal Associates provides not only support with status of residence applications but also consultation regarding harmonious coexistence with foreign residents.
